Our WorkWe, at High Country Taxidermy Studios, Pride ourselves in not being an ordinary commercial taxidermy shop. Each piece is given an extensive amount of time in order to recreate those special features specific to each species. We offer custom pieces which are carefully studied and sometimes require substantial form alteration and habitat design. Compared to an ordinary commercial taxidermy shop, High Country Taxidermy Studio spends twice the amount of time on every piece while only charging 10 - 15% more.When actually mounting the animal we use exact standards with emphasis on the overall symmetry and balance of the piece. We use only state of the art materials including custom eyes, custom forms and custom tan. We do not mount on commercial manikins. That is to say that we do not throw a skin over the form and mount the animal. Each manikin is custom built to match exact dimensions and features of that particular animal. Every piece that we design is custom built to the desired pose by our skillful taxidermists. The same standards are used when detailing your animal and also when the habitat is set up. We are able to match most habitat settings from where different species came from due to our vast research and knowledge of the areas that are hunted. For example, color of rocks and their shapes, the different flora of a specific area and the soil. The end result is that you have more than just a mount. You have an original piece of wildlife art that was design for you and for the best features of your animal. That is what sets us apart from most Taxidermy Studios.
